A major fire erupted on the 12th floor of the Imperial Heritage building in Nalasopara East on Tuesday night, resulting in the deaths of two women from suffocation. The victims, Falguni Shah (58) and Ashwini Parkar (55), were unable to escape due to pre-existing health conditions and physical weakness. Shah, who had been unwell since contracting Covid-19 and had a leg injury, was left behind as smoke filled her apartment. Parkar, who lived alone, was found deceased in her bed, likely succumbing to suffocation due to her frailty.
