Times of India · business

India's foreign exchange reserves saw a decrease of $1.269 billion, reaching $719.748 billion in the week ending October 23. This reduction was primarily due to a significant fall in the value of gold holdings, which dropped by $2.650 billion. However, foreign currency assets, the largest component of the reserves, increased by $1.358 billion. Despite the weekly dip, reserves remain higher than the March 2026 level. Concurrently, bank credit growth accelerated to 18.2% year-on-year, with deposits also showing robust growth.
