The Telangana Deputy Collectors’ Association has formally requested the state Chief Electoral Officer to expedite the clearance of pending bills related to the 2023 assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Association leaders met the CEO on Thursday, highlighting that expenditures incurred by Returning and Assistant Returning Officers exceeded allocated budgets. Many officials arranged funds through personal borrowings, and reimbursements are now overdue, causing financial hardship and reputational damage. The association seeks sanction of additional budgetary support for election management expenses, citing specific proposals for Nampally and Malkajgiri constituencies.
