Koder House Fire Likely Started in Adjacent Building, Electrical Inspectorate Finds

The Hindu · india

Preliminary findings by the Electrical Inspectorate suggest the fire that destroyed the Koder House heritage building in Fort Kochi may have originated in an adjacent property. Investigators suspect a short circuit in an air-conditioning unit on the neighboring terrace, potentially igniting stored tarpaulins, before spreading. CCTV footage appears to support this theory, showing flames moving from the adjacent building to Koder House. The exact cause awaits further scientific examination, with officials planning to interview hotel staff. The owner has claimed losses of ₹4 crore.
