Three more captive-bred Great Indian Bustards (GIBs) have been released into the wild at Desert National Park in Rajasthan, bringing the total reintroduced under a pilot project to seven. The six-month-old birds were fitted with satellite tags by Wildlife Institute of India (WII) scientists before their release. Six of the seven birds are healthy, with one having succumbed to a desert fox attack. The project aims to release 11 GIBs, with the remaining four awaiting appropriate age and development stages.
