LPG Subsidy Requires Aadhaar Authentication From October 1

Starting October 1, domestic LPG consumers must complete biometric Aadhaar authentication to book refills at the regulated retail selling price with subsidy. Those who do not authenticate can still get LPG but at the market price without subsidy. This change aims to ensure subsidies reach genuine households and prevent diversion of cylinders. As of September 19, 89.9% of 274.3 million active domestic LPG consumers had completed the authentication. Consumers who have already done it do not need to repeat the process.
