Over 1 Lakh Linen Items Vanish From SCR

South Central Railway (SCR) is facing significant losses as over one lakh linen items, including bedsheets and blankets, have disappeared from trains in the last four years. This amounts to losses running into crores of rupees. The Hyderabad division alone saw a nearly 1,000% surge in missing woollen blankets from 2023-24 to 2025-26. Face towels and bedsheets are the most frequently stolen items. Despite the scale of the problem, no passengers have been penalised, with responsibility falling on contractors and their staff.
