Kerala University Teachers Object To Biometric Attendance Punching System
Times of India · education
The pro-Communist Party of India (Marxist) teachers' organisation at the University of Kerala has urged the institution to reconsider the syndicate's decision to reintroduce biometric attendance punching. They argue that fixing working hours is unscientific for teachers who balance teaching and research, and that enforcing punching would harm research activities. Meanwhile, the non-teaching staff's pro-CPM organisation supports implementation with conditions and demands discussions. The university, however, remains firm on its decision, noting it applies even to medical college doctors.
