SC Reopens 14-Year-Old Karnataka Rape-Murder Case

The Supreme Court has ordered a fresh investigation into a 14-year-old case involving the rape and murder of a 17-year-old girl in Karnataka. This is reportedly the first time the apex court has taken such a step. The original trial had resulted in the acquittal of the sole accused, Santhosh Rao, in 2023. The court cited significant lapses in the previous probes as the reason for ordering a de novo investigation.
