Ahmedabad Airport Sees Fewer Flights, Higher Fares Ahead of Festive Season

Times of India · business

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad experienced an 18% year-on-year drop in domestic aircraft movements in September, alongside a 15.1% decrease in international movements. This decline, which has persisted for the first six months of FY27, is raising concerns about flight availability and escalating airfares. Travel industry experts note that fewer flight options reduce passenger flexibility and increase demand, leading to higher prices, particularly for last-minute bookings during peak travel periods. Consequently, many travellers are opting to fly before or after the Diwali week to avoid inflated fares.
