Nomura: Earnings Resilience Faces Headwinds

Business Standard · stocks

Indian equities may face pressure despite strong earnings due to high oil prices and geopolitical uncertainty, according to Nomura. The brokerage forecasts earnings growth excluding oil and gas at 11-12% for the rest of the fiscal year. Elevated commodity prices could squeeze corporate margins if companies cannot absorb rising input costs. Nomura warns that sustained crude prices above $100 a barrel could lead to earnings cuts and lower valuations, urging investors to be selective.
