Sebi to Directly Refund ₹192.88 Crore to Growpital Investors for First Time

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) will directly refund money to investors in the Growpital case, a first for the regulator. Growpital and its associated entities illegally raised ₹192.88 crore from 5,208 investors through unregistered collective investment schemes. Sebi has ordered a refund of outstanding money with 12% annual interest from January 29, 2024. Refunds will be processed from Growpital's escrow account and Cashfree Payments India. This move aims to protect investors who were misled by the platform's promises of assured profits.

सिक्योरिटीज एंड एक्सचेंज बोर्ड ऑफ इंडिया (सेबी) ग्रोपीटाल मामले में निवेशकों को सीधे पैसा वापस करेगा, जो नियामक के लिए पहली बार है। ग्रोपीटाल और उससे जुड़ी कंपनियों ने 5,208 निवेशकों से बिना रजिस्ट्रेशन वाली सामूहिक निवेश योजनाओं के जरिए अवैध रूप से ₹192.88 करोड़ जुटाए थे। सेबी ने 29 जनवरी 2024 से 12% सालाना ब्याज के साथ बकाया राशि वापस करने का आदेश दिया है। यह रिफंड ग्रोपीटाल के एस्क्रो अकाउंट और कैशफ्री पेमेंट्स इंडिया से किया जाएगा। इस कदम का मकसद उन निवेशकों की सुरक्षा करना है जिन्हें प्लेटफॉर्म द्वारा निश्चित मुनाफे के वादों से गुमराह किया गया था।
