Four Family Members Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for 2022 Murder in Tonk

A special court in Tonk has sentenced four members of a family to life imprisonment for the 2022 murder of 25-year-old Suman. The victim was allegedly killed because she insisted on marrying her partner, Pradhan, despite their caste differences. Pradhan, his mother Sanjana Devi, brother Sawai Ram, and sister Sushila were convicted for murder and criminal conspiracy. The prosecution presented 25 witnesses and 37 documents to establish the case. The court found them guilty under various provisions of the IPC and the SC/ST Act, imposing fines and additional sentences.

टोंक की एक विशेष अदालत ने 25 वर्षीय सुमन की 2022 में हुई हत्या के मामले में परिवार के चार सदस्यों को उम्रकैद की सजा सुनाई है। आरोप है कि पीड़ित को इसलिए मार दिया गया क्योंकि उसने जातिगत मतभेदों के बावजूद अपने साथी प्रधान से शादी करने पर जोर दिया था। प्रधान, उनकी माँ संजना देवी, भाई सवाई राम और बहन सुशीला को हत्या और आपराधिक साजिश के लिए दोषी ठहराया गया था। अभियोजन पक्ष ने मामले को स्थापित करने के लिए 25 गवाह और 37 दस्तावेज पेश किए। अदालत ने उन्हें भारतीय दंड संहिता और एससी/एसटी अधिनियम के विभिन्न प्रावधानों के तहत दोषी पाया, जुर्माना और अतिरिक्त सजा सुनाई।
