OpenAI has terminated an employee after a hidden audio-recording device was discovered in a San Francisco office conference room. The company referred the matter to the FBI, which arrested engineering lead Abdulrahman Alfozan on allegations of secretly installing the device. The FBI stated the device was designed to evade detection and capture confidential discussions about advanced AI technologies. OpenAI confirmed no sensitive AI assets or customer data were accessed and is cooperating with the ongoing federal investigation.
