Times of India · india

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Punjab chief secretary and DGP, demanding an action-taken report within two weeks. This follows a complaint alleging Daljit Singh died under suspicious circumstances in Mansa, with his family raising concerns about potential drug links. Police took custody of the body near Ramditte Wala Chowk amidst protests, citing law and order maintenance, which led to a confrontation. The NHRC acknowledged that the allegations prima facie appear to be human rights violations.
