Pirate attacks in the waters near Somalia have significantly increased, with at least 15 incidents reported in 2026. This marks a threefold rise compared to just five attacks recorded in the previous year, 2025. The resurgence in maritime piracy in this region raises concerns for international shipping and trade routes.
