8,000-acre South Carolina forest conserved from developers

An 8,000-acre forest in South Carolina's Georgetown County has been purchased for conservation, preventing commercial development. Two non-profit organizations, The Conservation Fund and the Malone Family Land Preservation Foundation, acquired the land for $34.2 million. A significant portion, 4,148 acres, will become a new state forest, with the remainder joining a Wildlife Management Area. This move ensures public recreational access and preserves natural resources.
