Monk Caught Intimate, Arrested For Embezzlement

A prominent Thai Buddhist monk, Phra Wachirayan Wi, 66, has been arrested for allegedly embezzling approximately 100 million baht (Rs 29 crore) from his monastery. He was apprehended with a 47-year-old woman, Punyavee Rungrueang, accused of helping him conceal the funds. CCTV footage showing the monk in an intimate encounter with the woman was discovered during the embezzlement probe. Following his arrest, Wachirayan was defrocked.
