8th Pay Commission: Demand to include parents

Employee unions have urged the 8th Pay Commission to revise the salary calculation formula. They propose a 5-unit model, including dependent parents, instead of the current 3-unit system. This change aims to account for the expenses of elderly parents, such as medical and living costs. The demand is backed by the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, which mandates parental support. Unions also seek a minimum basic pay of ₹69,000.

वां वेतन आयोग: माता-पिता को शामिल करने की मांग

कर्मचारी यूनियनों ने 8वें वेतन आयोग से सैलरी कैलकुलेशन का फॉर्मूला बदलने की मांग की है। वे मौजूदा 3 यूनिट की जगह 5 यूनिट का मॉडल चाहते हैं, जिसमें आश्रित माता-पिता भी शामिल हों। इसका मकसद बुजुर्ग माता-पिता के मेडिकल और रहने के खर्चों को ध्यान में रखना है। यह मांग पेरेंट्स एंड सीनियर सिटीजन्स एक्ट, 2007 के तहत भी आती है। यूनियनों ने ₹69,000 न्यूनतम बेसिक पे की भी मांग की है।
