The Dr. Ambedkar Scheduled Castes Federation has welcomed the Karnataka High Court's decision to strike down the additional reservation quota for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The federation's State president, Mahendra Kumar Mitra, stated that the 2022 legislation, which increased total reservations to 56%, violated constitutional limits. Mitra urged the government to appeal the verdict, arguing it exceeded the 50% ceiling set by landmark judgments. He also demanded the exclusion of 24 communities from SC/ST lists and the implementation of the creamy layer policy.
