Press Club of India Shocked by Journalist's Inclusion in Search Warrant Requests

The Press Club of India (PCI) has expressed shock over Arunachal Pradesh Police including senior journalist Tongam Rina in their search warrant requests related to the October 23 violence in Pasighat. PCI condemned attempts by authorities to intimidate journalists covering protests against the Siang dam project. They stated that probing violence should not be an excuse to harass journalists. The inclusion of Rina's name without justification is seen as a serious attack on press freedom in India.

प्रेस क्लब ऑफ इंडिया (PCI) ने अरुणाचल प्रदेश पुलिस द्वारा 23 अक्टूबर की हिंसा के संबंध में सर्च वारंट के अनुरोधों में वरिष्ठ पत्रकार टोंगम रीना को शामिल करने पर गहरा सदमा व्यक्त किया है। PCI ने सियांग बांध परियोजना के खिलाफ विरोध प्रदर्शनों को कवर करने वाले पत्रकारों को डराने-धमकाने के अधिकारियों के प्रयासों की निंदा की। उन्होंने कहा कि हिंसा की जांच पत्रकारों को परेशान करने का बहाना नहीं होनी चाहिए। रीना का नाम बिना किसी औचित्य के शामिल किया जाना भारत में प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता पर एक गंभीर हमला माना जा रहा है।
