UPI Merchant Discount Rate To Be Nominal

The government has assured that the proposed Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) for UPI transactions will be nominal. This fee will only apply to specific merchants and transactions exceeding a certain threshold. Crucially, person-to-person UPI payments will continue to be free for all users. This move aims to bolster the sustainability of India's digital payment ecosystem and support service expansion into rural and semi-urban areas.

सरकार ने भरोसा दिलाया है कि UPI ट्रांज़ैक्शन पर प्रस्तावित Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) बहुत कम होगा। यह शुल्क केवल कुछ खास व्यापारियों और एक निश्चित सीमा से ज़्यादा के ट्रांज़ैक्शन पर ही लगेगा। सबसे ज़रूरी बात, एक व्यक्ति से दूसरे व्यक्ति को UPI पेमेंट हमेशा की तरह सभी यूज़र्स के लिए मुफ़्त रहेगा। इससे डिजिटल पेमेंट सिस्टम को मज़बूत करने और छोटे शहरों तक सुविधा पहुँचाने में मदद मिलेगी।
