Brazil's Congress has approved a constitutional amendment to reduce the maximum workweek from 44 to 40 hours, guaranteeing employees two days off weekly without salary cuts. This significant reform, the country's biggest change to working hours since 1988, is expected to benefit over 30 million workers. The measure passed the Senate by 75 votes to one, following lower house approval. The reform will be phased in over a year, with the weekly limit first dropping to 42 hours, then to 40.

ब्राज़ील की कांग्रेस ने संविधान में संशोधन को मंज़ूरी दे दी है, जिससे काम के हफ़्ते का अधिकतम समय 44 घंटे से घटाकर 40 घंटे कर दिया गया है। इससे कर्मचारियों को हफ़्ते में दो दिन की छुट्टी मिलेगी और उनकी सैलरी में कोई कटौती नहीं होगी। यह एक बड़ा सुधार है, जो 1988 के बाद काम के घंटों में सबसे बड़ा बदलाव है और इससे 3 करोड़ से ज़्यादा कर्मचारियों को फ़ायदा होने की उम्मीद है। सीनेट में इस प्रस्ताव को 75 के मुकाबले 1 वोट से मंज़ूरी मिली, इससे पहले इसे निचले सदन ने भी पास कर दिया था।
