Ireland Cricketer Simi Singh Retires After Liver Transplant and Return to India

Simranjit Singh, known as Simi Singh, has officially announced his retirement from cricket after a 20-year association with Ireland. He moved to Ireland in 2006 for hotel management but found a second life in cricket, representing the nation in 35 ODIs and 53 T20Is, including a World Cup appearance. In early 2024, Simi suffered acute liver failure, a life-threatening condition that required a liver transplant from his wife. He has now returned to Mohali, India, and is recovering slowly while also opening his own cricket academy.
