Karnataka HC Flags Irony: Law Meant to Curb Red Tapism Bogged Down By It
The Hindu · india
The Karnataka High Court has observed that the State government's own law, the Karnataka Conduct of Government Litigation Act, 2023, enacted to curb red tapism, is now being bogged down by it. The court noted delays ranging from 466 to 1,099 days in filing appeals against judgments. A division bench highlighted that the State, which intended to bring order and accountability, has failed to adhere to its own mandate. The court criticized the administrative excuses provided for delays, stating they do not constitute sufficient cause for condoning the extraordinary delays.
