Allahabad HC Initiates Contempt Proceedings Against UP Official Over Pay Order

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has initiated contempt proceedings against Ajay Chauhan, principal secretary of Uttar Pradesh's public works department. This action stems from his alleged failure to comply with a four-year-old court order concerning salaries and benefits for government employees. The court also framed contempt charges against four other senior officials, including the additional chief secretary (Finance). A single-judge bench has given these five officers 15 days to respond and ordered their personal appearance on November 4.

इलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालय की लखनऊ पीठ ने उत्तर प्रदेश के लोक निर्माण विभाग के प्रमुख सचिव अजय चौहान के खिलाफ अवमानना कार्यवाही शुरू की है। यह कार्रवाई सरकारी कर्मचारियों के वेतन और भत्तों से संबंधित चार साल पुराने अदालत के आदेश का पालन करने में उनकी कथित विफलता के कारण की गई है। अदालत ने अतिरिक्त मुख्य सचिव (वित्त) सहित चार अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के खिलाफ भी अवमानना आरोप तय किए हैं। एकल-न्यायाधीश पीठ ने इन पांच अधिकारियों को जवाब देने के लिए 15 दिन का समय दिया है और 4 नवंबर को उनकी व्यक्तिगत उपस्थिति का आदेश दिया है।
