Scientists suggest Vincent van Gogh's iconic painting, The Starry Night, might depict an actual sky arrangement from July 1889 in southern France, challenging the long-held belief it was largely imagined or painted in June 1889. A South Korean research team used astronomy software to reconstruct the 1889 skies, finding that the positions of the moon, Venus, and the Hyades star cluster closely matched the pre-sunrise sky on July 22.
