पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री भगवंत मान ने ड्रग्स से लड़ने के लिए 10,000 नए पुलिसकर्मियों की भर्ती की घोषणा की और कहा कि राज्य की ड्रग्स के खिलाफ लड़ाई एक निर्णायक युद्ध है। उन्होंने जोर देकर कहा कि पुलिस को जायज कार्रवाई करने की पूरी आजादी है और उन्होंने उन्हें गांवों और कस्बों में समुदायों के साथ जुड़ने का निर्देश दिया। सरकार ड्रग तस्करी से निपटने के लिए केंद्रीय सरकार के साथ NDPS Act के सख्त प्रावधानों पर भी चर्चा कर रही है। मान ने पाकिस्तान के साथ 553 किमी की अंतरराष्ट्रीय सीमा और ड्रोन के जरिए सीमा पार तस्करी के प्रयासों के खिलाफ सतर्क रहने की आवश्यकता पर प्रकाश डाला।
