Ireland to Chair EU Budget Negotiations

Ireland's Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne, believes the country is well-positioned to chair upcoming EU budget negotiations for 2028-2034. Having recently transitioned from being a net recipient to a net contributor of EU funds, Ireland understands both perspectives. Byrne expressed this during his visit to Strasbourg for the State of the Union address, where Ireland also aims to advance a proposed ban on social media access for children during its EU presidency.
