SC Questions Transgender ID Card Invalidation

The Supreme Court has asked the government to respond to concerns about the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Act. Senior advocates reported that hormone treatment is being denied and the national portal for transgenders discontinued. The court questioned how previously issued transgender identity cards could be rendered invalid, especially if the new law might erase existing benefits for the community.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने सरकार से ट्रांसजेंडर व्यक्तियों (अधिकार संरक्षण) संशोधन अधिनियम को लेकर चिंताओं पर जवाब मांगा है। वरिष्ठ वकीलों ने बताया कि हार्मोन उपचार नहीं दिया जा रहा है और ट्रांसजेंडरों के लिए राष्ट्रीय पोर्टल बंद कर दिया गया है। कोर्ट ने पूछा कि पहले जारी किए गए ट्रांसजेंडर पहचान पत्र कैसे अमान्य किए जा सकते हैं, खासकर यदि नया कानून समुदाय के मौजूदा लाभों को समाप्त कर सकता है।
