Rohit Sharma, nearing 40, displayed remarkable agility during the first ODI against New Zealand in Auckland. Fielding at mid-wicket, he swiftly intercepted a ball and executed a precise underarm throw. KL Rahul behind the stumps completed the run-out, dismissing Daryl Mitchell who was caught in a run-out mix-up. Mitchell, who had a strong recent record against India with four centuries and two half-centuries in his last seven innings, was out for 28 off 41 balls. This was Mitchell's first-ever ODI run-out.
