Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan announced a major transformation for Kannur International Airport within a year to establish it as an aviation hub. केरल के मुख्यमंत्री वी डी सतीशसन ने घोषणा की है कि कन्नूर इंटरनेशनल एयरपोर्ट को एक साल के भीतर एविएशन हब बनाने के लिए बड़ा बदलाव किया जाएगा। पहलों में अंतरराष्ट्रीय संचालन के लिए 'पॉइंट ऑफ कॉल' का दर्जा हासिल करना और एक पायलट ट्रेनिंग सेंटर स्थापित करना शामिल है। राज्य सरकार का लक्ष्य हवाई अड्डों को ऐसे हब के रूप में विकसित करना है जो केरल के GDP में योगदान दें। योजनाओं में एक हेलीकॉप्टर पायलट ट्रेनिंग सेंटर, एयरक्राफ्ट मेंटेनेंस फैसिलिटीज और एक सिम्युलेटर ट्रेनिंग सेंटर भी शामिल हैं। यह विकास विमानन बुनियादी ढांचे के माध्यम से राज्य की अर्थव्यवस्था को बढ़ावा देने की व्यापक रणनीति का हिस्सा है।
