CPI(M) to Launch Agitation Over Ecologically Sensitive Areas in Kannur

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] is set to launch a major public agitation in Kannur district, protesting the Kerala government's alleged failure to address concerns regarding Ecologically Sensitive Areas (ESA). Protests will commence after October 25, focusing on Kottiyoor, Cheruvanchery, and Aralam regions. CPI(M) district secretary K.K. Ragesh criticized the state government's indifference and the Centre's refusal to accept a revised ESA report. He highlighted that the 2014 ESA notification has had serious consequences for hilly regions, necessitating a ground-level survey.

कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी ऑफ इंडिया (मार्क्सवादी) [CPI(M)] कन्नूर जिले में एक बड़ा जन आंदोलन शुरू करने वाली है, जो इकोलॉजिकल सेंसिटिव एरिया (ESA) को लेकर केरल सरकार की चिंताओं को दूर करने में कथित विफलता के विरोध में है। विरोध प्रदर्शन 25 अक्टूबर के बाद कोट्टियूर, चेरिवंचेरी और अरलम क्षेत्रों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करते हुए शुरू होंगे। CPI(M) जिला सचिव के.के. राजेश ने राज्य सरकार की उदासीनता और ESA की संशोधित रिपोर्ट को स्वीकार करने से केंद्र के इनकार की आलोचना की। उन्होंने इस बात पर प्रकाश डाला कि 2014 की ESA अधिसूचना का पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों पर गंभीर प्रभाव पड़ा है, जिसके लिए जमीनी स्तर पर सर्वेक्षण की आवश्यकता है।
