SC/ST JRF Scholars Urge Bangalore University VC To Review Fee Hike

Around 80 Ph.D. and M.Phil. scholars from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Category-I communities have written to Bangalore University's Vice-Chancellor C. Shivaraju. They are protesting a recent fee notification that requires them to pay the same annual fees as General Merit students. These scholars receive funding under the Union government's Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) scheme. The university stated the matter has been referred to the Fee Review Committee for a decision. The scholars argue that the fee structure should reflect their caste categories, not their JRF stipend.

अनुसूचित जाति, अनुसूचित जनजाति और श्रेणी-I समुदायों के लगभग 80 पीएचडी और एमफिल स्कॉलर्स ने बैंगलोर यूनिवर्सिटी के कुलपति सी. शिवाराजू को पत्र लिखा है। वे हालिया फीस अधिसूचना का विरोध कर रहे हैं, जिसमें उन्हें सामान्य मेरिट छात्रों के समान वार्षिक शुल्क का भुगतान करने की आवश्यकता है। ये स्कॉलर्स केंद्र सरकार की जूनियर रिसर्च फेलोशिप (जेआरएफ) योजना के तहत फंडिंग प्राप्त करते हैं। विश्वविद्यालय ने कहा कि मामले को निर्णय के लिए शुल्क समीक्षा समिति को भेज दिया गया है। स्कॉलर्स का तर्क है कि फीस संरचना को उनके जेआरएफ स्टाइपेंड के बजाय उनकी जाति श्रेणियों को दर्शाना चाहिए।
