A 38-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party worker, Samir Ghosh, was shot dead outside his home in Malda, West Bengal, on Wednesday night. The killing led to clashes between groups in English Bazaar, with police detaining one suspect and searching for others. Similar incidents of violence occurred during Durga Puja immersion celebrations in Arambagh and Nalhati, where police used force to control escalating tensions. While the BJP blamed the Trinamool Congress for the Malda murder, local Trinamool leaders denied the allegations, attributing the Arambagh clashes to personal feuds.
