Sebi Fines CDSL ₹1 Crore For Multiple Compliance Lapses

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has imposed a penalty of ₹1 crore on Central Depository Services (India) Ltd (CDSL) for several compliance failures. These lapses include not communicating reasons for rejecting pledge requests to depository participants and shortcomings in disaster recovery drills. CDSL also failed to patch identified vulnerabilities within the stipulated timelines and conducted a non-comprehensive Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing exercise. The regulator has directed CDSL to pay the fine within 45 days.

भारतीय प्रतिभूति और विनिमय बोर्ड (सेबी) ने सेंट्रल डिपोजिटरी सर्विसेज (इंडिया) लिमिटेड (सीडीएसएल) पर कई अनुपालन विफलताओं के लिए ₹1 करोड़ का जुर्माना लगाया है। इन विफलताओं में प्लेज अनुरोधों को अस्वीकार करने के कारणों को डिपोजिटरी प्रतिभागियों को नहीं बताना और डिजास्टर रिकवरी ड्रिल में कमियां शामिल हैं। सीडीएसएल निर्धारित समय-सीमा के भीतर पहचानी गई कमजोरियों को ठीक करने में भी विफल रहा और एक गैर-व्यापक भेद्यता मूल्यांकन और पैठ परीक्षण अभ्यास किया। नियामक ने सीडीएसएल को 45 दिनों के भीतर जुर्माना भरने का निर्देश दिया है।
