VP: Universities Thrive When Ideas Are Questioned

Vice-president CP Radhakrishnan stated that universities flourish when they encourage the questioning and refinement of ideas. Speaking at the third Arun Jaitley Memorial Debate's prize distribution ceremony, he emphasized the critical importance of analytical skills in today's technology-driven world. Radhakrishnan urged students to differentiate between information and knowledge, and opinion and evidence. He noted that while technology aids thinking, individuals remain responsible for critical analysis. The annual debate, launched in 2023, honors former Union finance minister Arun Jaitley.

उपराष्ट्रपति सी.पी. राधाकृष्णन ने कहा कि विश्वविद्यालय तब तरक्की करते हैं जब वे विचारों पर सवाल उठाने और उन्हें बेहतर बनाने को बढ़ावा देते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि आज की तकनीक-आधारित दुनिया में विश्लेषणात्मक कौशल बहुत ज़रूरी हैं। छात्रों को जानकारी और ज्ञान, राय और सबूत के बीच फर्क करना चाहिए। तकनीक सोचने में मदद करती है, लेकिन आलोचनात्मक विश्लेषण की ज़िम्मेदारी व्यक्ति की ही होती है। यह बहस पूर्व वित्त मंत्री अरुण जेटली के सम्मान में आयोजित की जाती है।
