108 Ambulance Workers Strike From Oct 21 After Talks Fail

Over 2,000 workers of the 108 ambulance service in Jharkhand will begin an indefinite statewide strike, as their demands remain unresolved. Talks with Health Minister Irfan Ansari failed to address pending wages, labour law benefits, and operational control of ambulances. The workers have not received salaries since July, and only one of their three demands, the reinstatement of 20 employees, was partially met. The minister stated that a new outsourcing agency would be engaged to manage the service.
