The United States is expelling a Cuban diplomat after he allegedly assaulted a US official at the United Nations. The confrontation occurred when Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla accused US Ambassador Mike Waltz of dishonesty during remarks about corrupt Cuban elites. Richard Tur de la Concepcion, a Cuban diplomat, then reportedly pushed and attempted to grab an iPhone from Waltz's spokesperson, JP Freire, who was recording the incident. Ambassador Waltz confirmed the diplomat's expulsion, stating he would be on a plane to Havana within 24 hours.
