Hindustan Times · india
The Supreme Court has directed the Delhi Police and the Union government to ensure all women feel safe in public spaces and transport, even late at night. A bench led by Justice JB Pardiwala emphasized that public areas must not become high-risk zones, questioning if lessons from the Nirbhaya case had been learned. This intervention follows a series of recent rape and sexual assault incidents in Delhi-NCR, including cases involving minors. The court linked public safety to the fundamental right to live with dignity under Article 21.
