CBS News · world
Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George warned in December, two months before the U.S. war with Iran, that the service faced a critical shortage of missile defense munitions. This deficit was projected to persist for another five years, until 2030. George's assessment, included in the Pentagon's Global Force Management Allocation Plan, highlighted low stockpiles of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) and Patriot missiles. Officials cited transfers to Ukraine, expenditures defending Israel, and reduced industrial capacity as reasons for the shortage.
