Bengal Durga Puja Business Sees Uneven Gains Big Organisers Thrive, Small Committees Lag
Business Standard · business
West Bengal's Durga Puja celebrations this year saw a stark divide between large and small organisers, with major committees, malls, and online platforms reporting booming business. While 13,000 more pujas were held, smaller committees struggled with advertising demand, seeing vacant slots and lower rates. Prominent locations like Park Street and Camac Street became key advertising hubs. Organised retail experienced strong sales, with one mall reporting a 17% footfall increase. However, traditional retailers expressed concern over deep online discounts impacting offline sales.
