Attappady's Tribal Taluk Speciality Hospital in Kottathara is set to improve its healthcare services with the addition of specialist doctors, including paediatricians, gynaecologists, and anaesthesiologists. The hospital will also receive a paediatric ambulance and expanded newborn care facilities, including a new block and an emergency operation theatre. These enhancements come amid criticism following a series of infant deaths among the local tribal population. The hospital will operate under a spoke-and-hub model with the Government Medical College Hospital, Thrissur, to improve specialist treatment access.
