A recent survey reveals that over half of Tamil Nadu's youth, aged 22-29, hold degrees, with 56% of those in the labor force securing regular salaried jobs. This marks the highest share of degree-holding youth in any Indian state. The proportion of young women in the workforce has increased, and overall unemployment among 15-29 year olds has fallen significantly from 26% to 14% over eight years. Despite these gains, a substantial two-thirds of the state's unemployed are graduates, and many workers earn less than ₹20,000 monthly.
