Taxi Drivers Threaten Indefinite Protest Over Airport Parking Fees
Times of India · india
Taxi operators in Mangaluru have threatened an indefinite protest against Mangaluru International Airport's "exorbitant" parking fees, demanding the airport stop collecting these charges within 10 days. The Dakshina Kannada Taxi Men’s and Maxi Cab Association claims taxis are charged Rs 180 even without entering the parking area, and Rs 50 after dropping passengers, unlike private vehicles. The airport stated the access charge for commercial vehicles is in line with national practices to manage landside facilities and improve passenger experience. The association, representing 6,500 operators, seeks intervention from authorities.
