Kannale had sought bail citing his wife's advanced pregnancy, but the prosecution argued he planned a trip to Uzbekistan. The judge denied bail, stating there was a risk of him absconding and impeding the investigation. The court described the alleged malpractice in selecting veterinary officers as a "heinous socio-economic offence".

बेंगलुरु की एक अदालत ने कर्नाटक लोक सेवा आयोग भर्ती घोटाले के मुख्य आरोपी बसवराज कन्नाले की जमानत याचिका खारिज कर दी है। कन्नाले ने पत्नी की गर्भावस्था का हवाला देकर जमानत मांगी थी, लेकिन अभियोजन पक्ष ने कहा कि उसने उज्बेकिस्तान जाने की योजना बनाई थी। जज ने कहा कि आरोपी के भागने और जांच में बाधा डालने का खतरा है, इसलिए जमानत नहीं दी जा सकती। अदालत ने पशु चिकित्सा अधिकारियों के चयन में कथित गड़बड़ी को "जघन्य सामाजिक-आर्थिक अपराध" बताया।
