Paraguay's popular digital bank, Ueno, has been seized by the Central Bank of Paraguay and is being dissolved. The bank's CEO, Miguel Vázquez, and other executives have been arrested on charges including breach of trust and attempted fraud. Ueno, which launched in 2023 and served nearly two-thirds of the adult population, faced scrutiny over its share of government business and lending practices. President Santiago Peña stated that 98% of clients would recover funds via deposit insurance, while investigations into the collapse continue.
