India to Finalise 114 Rafale Jet Deal by FY-End; French Firm to Integrate Indian Weapons

India is planning to finalise the contract for 114 Rafale fighter jets by the end of the current financial year, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh announced. The deal includes a 'buy-and-make' programme with significant assembly and integration of Indian systems and weapons in India. This move aims to bolster the Indian Air Force's depleting combat squadrons. The government is also progressing with indigenous projects like the AMCA fifth-generation fighter jet and the LCA Mk2, with the latter scheduled for its first flight next year.

रक्षा सचिव राजेश कुमार सिंह ने घोषणा की कि भारत चालू वित्तीय वर्ष के अंत तक 114 राफेल लड़ाकू जेट के अनुबंध को अंतिम रूप देने की योजना बना रहा है। इस सौदे में भारत में भारतीय प्रणालियों और हथियारों की महत्वपूर्ण असेंबली और एकीकरण के साथ एक 'खरीदें और बनाएं' कार्यक्रम शामिल है। इस कदम का उद्देश्य भारतीय वायु सेना के घटते लड़ाकू स्क्वाड्रन को मजबूत करना है। सरकार AMCA पांचवीं पीढ़ी के लड़ाकू जेट और LCA Mk2 जैसी स्वदेशी परियोजनाओं के साथ भी आगे बढ़ रही है, जिसमें बाद वाले का अगले साल पहली उड़ान निर्धारित है।
