The Calcutta High Court has dismissed a petition filed by the Indian Secular Front (ISF) challenging the Election Commission's decision to reassign the 'envelope' poll symbol. The ISF had claimed the symbol, used in the 2024 Lok Sabha and 2026 assembly elections, was given to the new Democratic Trinamool Congress (DTC) despite their objections. The court ruled against the ISF, noting that as a registered but not recognised party, it does not have a right to a reserved symbol. The EC had previously allotted the ISF the 'almirah' symbol.

कलकत्ता हाई कोर्ट ने इंडियन सेक्युलर फ्रंट (ISF) की उस याचिका को खारिज कर दिया है जिसमें उन्होंने चुनाव आयोग के 'लिफाफा' चुनाव चिन्ह को फिर से सौंपने के फैसले को चुनौती दी थी। ISF ने दावा किया था कि 2024 के लोकसभा और 2026 के विधानसभा चुनावों में इस्तेमाल किया जाने वाला यह चिन्ह उनकी आपत्तियों के बावजूद नए डेमोक्रेटिक तृणमूल कांग्रेस (DTC) को दे दिया गया था। अदालत ने ISF के खिलाफ फैसला सुनाया, यह देखते हुए कि एक पंजीकृत लेकिन मान्यता प्राप्त पार्टी के रूप में, उसे आरक्षित चिन्ह का कोई अधिकार नहीं है। EC ने पहले ISF को 'अलमारी' चिन्ह आवंटित किया था।
