UN Urges Schools, Tech Firms to Drop Mercator

The United Nations is advocating for schools and technology companies to abandon the Mercator projection for world maps. This widely used map distorts the true size of landmasses, making Greenland appear similar in size to Africa, when in reality Africa is nearly 14 times larger. India is also significantly larger than Greenland.

संयुक्त राष्ट्र चाहता है कि स्कूल और टेक कंपनियाँ दुनिया के नक्शे के लिए मर्कैटर प्रोजेक्शन का इस्तेमाल बंद कर दें। यह नक्शा ज़मीनों के असली आकार को गलत दिखाता है। जैसे, ग्रीनलैंड अफ्रीका के बराबर दिखता है, जबकि अफ्रीका असल में 14 गुना बड़ा है। भारत भी ग्रीनलैंड से बहुत बड़ा है।
